  • Minimize chewy and sticky foods that adhere to your teeth and gums. Snacks such as granola bars, peanut butter cookies, or jellybeans stick to the teeth, and the saliva won’t be able to wash the residue away. Remind children to brush their teeth after eating these kinds of foods.
  • Include sweet foods with meals instead of giving them to children as snacks. Give them the sweets as part of the dessert following a regular meal. Children should not develop the habit of snacking on sweet foods, which could harm their teeth.
